The invention relates to an absorbent article having barrier cuffs (15) along its longitudinal sides. The article includes a top sheet (5) having a central region (C) and marginal regions (M/M'). The marginal regions (M/M') extend outwardly below the cuffs (15). The marginal regions (M/M') are more hydrophobic than the central region (C) throughout their thickness to prevent wicking of liquids below the cuffs (15). The top sheet (5) may include a hydrophilic material, the marginal areas (M/M') being impregnated with a hydrophobic agent. Alternatively, the top sheet (5) may include a hydrophobic material, the central region (C) being treated with a surfactant.
L'invention concerne un article absorbant présentant des lisières d'arrêt (15) le long de ses côtés longitudinaux. L'article comprend une feuille supérieure (5) présentant une zone centrale (C) et des zones marginales (M/M'). Ces zones marginales (M/M') s'étendent vers l'extérieur au-dessous ds lisières (15). Les zones marginales (M/M') sont plus hydrophobes que la zone centrale (C) sur toute leur épaisseur, pour éviter toute fuite de liquide au-dessous des lisières (15).
