The invention relates to a method for detecting errors in a communication system, especially an ATM communication system (Asynchronous Transfer Mode). In the absence of communication signals, monitoring signals are applied at the beginning of at least one monitoring line (7, 8) of said communication system and then extracted at the end of said monitoring line (7, 8). According to said invention, the monitoring line (7, 8) is located within a communication device (1) of said communication system. The absence of signals at the end of the monitoring line (7, 8) corresponds to the presence of an error in the communication device (1). In addition, a communication device (1) has a monitoring line (7, 8) at the beginning of which a power supply (2) is provided and at the end of which an extraction unit (3) is provided. Said extraction unit is designed for detecting and extracting monitoring signals applied by the power supply (2). The invention makes it possible to trigger an alarm-indicating signal (AIS) very quickly after detection of an error in the communication device (1).
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de détecter des erreurs dans un système de communication, notamment un système de communication ATM (mode de transfert asynchrone). En l'absence de signaux de communication, des signaux de surveillance sont injectés au début d'au moins une ligne de surveillance (7,8) du système de communication puis prélevés à la fin de cette ligne (7, 8). Selon l'invention, la ligne de surveillance (7, 8) se trouve dans un dispositif de commutation (1) du système de communication. L'absence de tout signal à la fin de la ligne de surveillance (7, 8) permet de déduire la présence d'une erreur dans le dispositif de commutation (1). En outre, un dispositif de commutation (1) présente une ligne de surveillance (7, 8) qui est dotée, au début, d'une unité d'alimentation (2) et, à la fin, d'une unité de prélèvement (3). L'unité de prélèvement est conçue de telle façon qu'elle détecte et prélève les signaux de surveillance injectés par l'unité d'alimentation (2). L'invention permet notamment de déclencher un signal d'indication d'alarme (AIS) très rapidement après la détection d'une erreur dans le dispositif de commutation (1).
