A process for manufacturing a membrane electrode assembly for an electrochemical cell comprises: feeding a sheet of ion exchange membrane material through a double belt press; feeding at least one electrode substrate through the double belt press; and applying heat and pressure to bond a portion of the membrane material and the electrode substrate within a process zone of the double belt press. An apparatus for manufacturing membrane electrode assemblies for an electrochemical cell comprises a double belt press. The present process can further comprise cutting a membrane electrode assembly, such as by longitudinal slitting to obtain strips of the desired width and/or cross-cutting of the strips to obtain a membrane electrode assembly of the desired length.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un ensemble électrode à membrane destiné à une cellule électrochimique. Ledit procédé consiste à: introduire une feuille de matériau à membrane échangeuse d'ions à travers une presse à bande double; introduire au moins un substrat d'électrode à travers la presse à bande double; et appliquer une chaleur et une pression pour connecter une partie du matériau à membrane et le substrat d'électrode dans une zone de traitement de la presse à bande double. Selon l'invention, un appareil permettant la fabrication d'ensembles électrodes à membrane pour une cellule électrochimique comprend une presse à bande double. Le présent procédé peut également consister à couper un ensemble d'électrode à membrane, notamment par refente longitudinale pour obtenir des bandes de largeur souhaitée et/ou par découpe transversale des bandes pour obtenir un ensemble d'électrode à membrane de longueur souhaitée.
