A method of drying a microbial cell suspension whereby the death or damage of the microbial cells can be minimized and thus the viable ratio can be maintained at a high level in a process for producing dry microbial cells or compositions (drugs, foods, etc.) containing the same; and dry microbial cells with a single micron size, which contain a large number of cells per unit weight and can be easily shaped into drugs of foods, obtained by using the above method. Namely, a process for producing dry microbial cells with a single micron size characterized by drying spray-droplets of single micron with a dry air stream; and the dried microbial cells with a single micron size.
