An extended release pharmaceutical composition comprised of an erythromycin derivative and non-polymer material for providing for extended release, in particular, a member selected from the group consisting of clays, long chain hydrocarbons, long chain carboxylic acids, long chain carboxylic acid esters, long chain alcohols, and mixtures thereof, with said member being present in an amount to provide for extended release of the erythromycin derivative.
