ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A disposable garment including a flexible body having opposed first and second sections with a fastener system for securing the first and second sections to each other adjacent a side margin thereof. The fastener system includes a receptor on the first section and a tab on the second section sized to extend through the receptor to connect the first and second sections. A method for producing a garment also is provided wherein the steps include producing a liquid-impervious outer layer having opposed first and second waist regions and a crotch region therebetween, producing a liquid- pervious inner layer to overly the outer layer, producing an absorbent layer and sandwiching it between the inner and outer layers in the crotch region, and forming a fastener system on the garment by producing a receptor on the first waist region adjacent a side margin thereof and producing a tab on the second waist region adjacent a side margin thereof sized to extend through the receptor to releasably connect the first and second waist regions.
