An underwater hydroelectric turbine comprises a turbine housing having an inlet and an outlet, a central shaft extending axially inside the turbine housing, a self- contained, sealed front bearing unit for rotationally supporting a front end of the central shaft, and a self- contained, sealed rear bearing unit for rotationally supporting a rear end of the central shaft. The front bearing unit and the rear bearing unit each comprises a self-powered lubricant circulation system that draws a fraction of the mechanical power from rotation of the central shaft to circulate lubricant through each respective bearing unit. The turbine may have an equilibrium chamber for automatically balancing lubricant pressure inside a lubricant-containing chamber of the bearing chambers with ambient water pressure outside the bearing housing.
L'invention porte sur une turbine hydraulique immergée comprenant un boîtier de turbine ayant une entrée et une sortie, un arbre central s'étendant axialement à l'intérieur du boîtier de turbine, une unité palier avant auto-contenue, scellée de façon étanche, pour supporter en rotation une extrémité avant de l'arbre central, et une unité palier arrière auto-contenue, scellée de façon étanche, pour supporter en rotation une extrémité arrière de l'arbre central. L'unité palier avant et l'unité palier arrière comprennent chacune un système de circulation de lubrifiant autoalimenté qui extrait une partie de la puissance mécanique due à la rotation de l'arbre central pour faire circuler du lubrifiant à travers chaque unité de palier respective. La turbine peut comprendre une chambre d'équilibre pour équilibrer automatiquement la pression de lubrifiant à l'intérieur d'une chambre contenant du lubrifiant des chambres de palier avec une pression de l'eau ambiante à l'extérieur du boîtier de palier.
