Process for the production of alkali salts of clavulanic acid of for-mula (I) by conversion of clavulanic acid into a pharmaceutically accept-able salt of clavulanic acid which is characterised in that the conver-sion is carried out in n-butanol or iso-butanol (2-methyl-1-propanol) as a solvent; and a potassium salt of clavulanic acid containing n-butanol or iso-butanol.

Ce procédé de production de sels alcalins de l'acide clavulanique répondant à la formule (I) consiste à convertir de l'acide clavulanique en un sel de cet acide, acceptable sur le plan pharmacologique, ce procédé étant caractérisé en ce que cette conversion s'effectue dans du n-butanol ou de l'iso-butanol (2-méthyl-1-propanol) en tant que solvant. On décrit également un sel potassique de l'acide clavulanique contenant du n-butanol ou de l'iso-butanol.
