A spectrometer system employs a gridless Xenon detector having an anode (10) and a cathode (12) supported in spaced relation from the anode devoid of structure intermediate the anode and cathode. Pulses resulting from charge collection due to radiation ionization of the Xenon gas are detected and parametrized by a computation engine (48) through multiple detected pulses. Simultaneous determination of the position and ionization energy allows selective presentation of the data to compensate for various position dependent phenomena.

L'invention concerne un système de spectromètre qui utilise un détecteur au xénon sans grille comportant une anode (10) et une cathode (12) située à une certaine distance de l'anode, sans structure intermédiaire entre l'anode et la cathode. Les impulsions résultant de l'accumulation de charges due à l'ionisation du rayonnement de gaz xénon sont détectées et paramétrées par un moteur de calcul (48) sur la base de plusieurs impulsions détectées. En déterminant simultanément la position et l'énergie d'ionisation, on obtient une présentation sélective des données, ce qui permet de compenser les divers phénomènes dépendant de la position.
