This invention concerns a process for the butt welding of plates (1, 2) by a laser beam, remarkable in that a lateral force F is applied to the plates (1, 2) to be welded in the direction of the mating surface (3) of the plates (1, 2) so that the contact stress at any point on the mating surface (3) of the said plates is between 0.05 times the elastic limit of the plate (1 or 2) having the lower elastic limit and the buckling stress of the plate (1 or 2) having the lower buckling stress, and a weld is made at the mating surface (3) by localized melting of the said plates (1, 2) by a laser beam. The invention also concerns a welding device for implementing this process.
La présente invention a pour objet un procédé de soudage bord à bord de tôles (1, 2) au moyen d'un faisceau laser, caractérisé en ce que l'on exerce sur les tôles (1, 2) à souder une pression latérale F dirigée vers le plan de joint (3) des tôles (1, 2) pour que la pression de contact entre lesdites tôles, en tout point au niveau du plan de point (3), soit comprise entre 0,05 fois la limite élastique de la tôle (1 ou 2) ayant la plus faible limite élastique et la pression de flambement de la tôle (1 ou 2) ayant la pression de flambement minimale et on réalise un joint soudé au niveau du plan de joint (3) par fusion locale desdites tôles (1, 2) au moyen du faisceau laser. L'invention a également pour objet un dispositif de soudage pour la mise en oeuvre de ce procédé.
