Gaskets (1) suitable for high temperature use and having applicability for sealing oven doors are provided. The gaskets (1) are interbraided from a wire (3) such as stainless steel and a thermally insulating yarn (2) formed, for example, from spun glass fibres. Continuous wireforms (10) having spaced apart protrusions (11) are retained in place within the openings formed by the wires (3) and provide for attachment of the gaskets (1) to apertures (15) in a surface (16). The gaskets (1) are manufactured on a circular btaider with approximately 1/3 of the carriers being loaded with wires (3) and 2/3 of the carriers being loaded with glass fibre yarn (2). The gaskets (1) are characterised by an absence of an inner resilient support structure. Gaskets (1) of the so-called "tadpole" type comprised of interbraided glass fibre yarn (2) and wire (3) are also disclosed.
