The present invention provides systems and methods for producing a nucleic acid or protein in young plants. Typically, the young plants are grown in a contained, regulatable environment. In some embodiments, expression of a pharmaceutically active protein in the young plants is controlled by an exogenously inducible promoter or a viral promoter. In some embodiments, the young plants are edible and may be eaten live or preferably harvested live to preserve the maximal biological activity of the nucleic acid or protein. In some embodiments, the young plant is a young pea plant or a young Nicotiana plant.
La présente invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés permettant de produire un acide nucléique ou une protéine dans de jeunes plantes. Généralement, les jeunes plantes sont cultivées dans un environnement clos pouvant être régulé. Dans certains modes de réalisation, l'expression d'une protéine active d'un point de vue pharmaceutique chez les jeunes plantes est régulée par un promoteur inductible de manière exogène ou un promoteur viral. Dans d'autres modes de réalisation, les jeunes plantes sont comestibles et peuvent être mangées vivantes ou de préférence récoltées vivantes afin de préserver l'activité biologique maximale de l'acide nucléique ou de la protéine. Dans des modes de réalisation encore différents, la jeune plante est un jeune pois ou une jeune plante Nicotiana.
