ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A storage container is intended for the long term secure storage of documents, memorabilia and the like without the necessary accessibility and cost associated with conventional safety deposit boxes. The container includes a rectangular container body and a matching container cap that fits telescopically over a neck on the body. When the cap is installed, it cannot be removed from the container body without permanently damaging the container. The container has flanges along two diametrically opposed edges to engage in mating slots on the other edges of containers of a similar configuration. This allows the containers to be stacked for storage. A cap is equipped with a second compartment that is readily opened. This second compartment may be used to store instructions or identification materials as desired by the container owner. The container may be equipped with purging capability, so that the container can be purged with an inert gas.
