The present invention provides a device (30) for cauterising tissue, the device (30) arranged to be mounted to a biopsy and/or sampling instrument (185) and comprising a conductive cauterising portion (38) and means for heating (20) the cauterising portion (38). The device (30) may be mounted either permanently or releasably removable from hte biopsy and/or sampling instrument (185).
