A polyelectrolyte having multiple exposed functional groups, each such group being capable of covalently bonding to a molecule, is immobilized on a surface for the purpose of bonding to a biomolecule. The biomolecule can be, for example, a nucleic acid, e.g., an amine functionalized oligonucleotide. The polyelectrolyte can include, e.g., BSA (Bovine Serum Albumin) which is bound to a functionalized surface using a covalent immobilization strategy, e.g., reaction with the surface of a tosyl-activated microparticle. Following such reaction, exposed reactive functional groups on the protein, such as amine, carboxyl, thiol, hydroxyl groups can further be utilized to covalently couple the oligonucleotide of interest using suitable chemistry.

L'invention concerne un polyélectrolyte ayant plusieurs groupes fonctionnels exposés, chacun de ces groupes pouvant se lier de manière covalente à une molécule, qui est immobilisé sur une surface aux fins de la liaison à une biomolécule. Ladite biomolécule peut être, par exemple, un acide nucléique, soit un oligonucléotide à fonction amine. Le polyélectrolyte peut comporter, par exemple, l'albumine bovine (BSA) qui se lie à une surface fonctionnalisée au moyen d'une stratégie d'immobilisation covalente, soit une réaction avec la surface d'une microparticule activée par tosyle. A la suite de cette réaction, des groupes fonctionnels réactifs exposés sur la protéine, tels que des groupes amine, carboxyle, thiol, hydroxyle peuvent en outre servir à coupler de manière covalente l'oligonucléotide d'intérêt par un processus chimique approprié.
