A refuse collection vehicle has a pair of hoists which can be operated together to lift a larger container by means of both hoists and which can also be operated separately for the lifting of a smaller container by either hoist. The hydraulic circuit includes a respective control valve for each hoist. In order to operate the hoists together, the control valves are operated together. Respective inlets on the control valves are inter-connected by a duct which includes a flow- restrictor to permit the flow to one valve to be supplemented, at a relatively low rate, from the flow to the other valve.
