A carbonylation process for the production of a carbonylation product such as a carboxylic acid and a carboxylic acid ester by contacting carbon monoxide with a feed comprising an alcohol such as methanol and/or a reactive derivative thereof such as methyl acetate in the vapour phase using a heterogeneous heteropolyacid catalyst which has been ion-exchanged or loaded with at least one metal selected from rhodium, iridium, copper and palladium and a Group IA metal selected from lithium, sodium, potassium and rubidium.
L~invention concerne un procédé de carbonylation pour la production d~un produit de carbonylation tel qu~un acide carboxylique et un ester d~acide carboxylique, par mise en contact de monoxyde de carbone avec un flux d~alimentation comprenant un alcool tel que le méthanol et/ou un de ses dérivés réactifs, tel que l~acétate méthylique, en phase vapeur, à l~aide d~un catalyseur hétérogène hétéropolyacide, lequel a subi un échange d~ions ou a été chargé avec au moins un métal choisi parmi le rhodium, l~iridium, le cuivre et le palladium et un métal du groupe IA choisi parmi le lithium, le sodium, le potassium et le rubidium.
