A portable visual instructional aid for coaching sports involving the use of a simulated miniature sport playing surface and tokens that are used to represent individual players and other sport equipment. The simulated miniature sport playing surface provides a top-view of the sporting field, court, ice rink, pool, or the like. It is constructed from a flexible material that can be easily rolled up or folded for compact storage and transport but when unfurled or opened it quickly assumes a flat state. The playing surface is preferably constructed from water-resistant or waterproof material to permit the instructional aid to be used during wet weather conditions. Tokens are used to represent individual players and equipment used to play the sports. The coach then uses these tokens to setup game situations on the playing surface to teach the strategy and tactics of a particular sport.
