An object of the present invention is to provide a precursor fiber for a high-grade carbon fiber which is less likely to cause fuzz without impairing the productivity. The carbon fiber precursor fiber has a weight average molecular weight, M w(F), of 200,000 to 700,000 and a degree of polydispersity, M z(F)/M w(F) (M z(F) indicates the Z-average molecular weight of the fiber) , of 2 to 5. Also, a process for producing the carbon fiber precursor fiber according to the present invention provides a process for producing the carbon fiber precursor fiber. In addition, an object of the present invention is to produce a high-grade and high-quality carbon fiber while suppressing fuzz and fiber breakage even under oxidation-carbonization conditions including a high tension or high stretch ratio without impairing the productivity. The process for producing the carbon fiber according to the present invention is a process for producing a carbon fiber using the carbon fiber precursor fiber. Furthermore, the carbon fiber according to the present invention is a carbon fiber in which a crystallite size and parameters concerning a carbon fiber surface, the parameters determined by Raman spectroscopy, satisfy a specific relationship.

La présente invention concerne des fibres précurseurs pour fibres de carbone de première qualité réduites au cours du débourrage sans affecter la productivité. Les fibres précurseurs de fibre de carbone possèdent une masse moléculaire moyenne pondérale, Mw(F), de 200000 à 700000 et un coefficient de polydispersité, Mz(F)/Mw(F) (Mz(F) indique la masse moléculaire moyenne z des fibres), de 2 à 5. La présente invention concerne également un processus de fabrication des fibres précurseur de fibre de carbone. Elle concerne en outre un processus de fabrication de fibres de carbone à partir des fibres précurseur de fibre de carbone. Au cours de ce processus, le débourrage et la rupture des fibres sont inhibés même dans des conditions de combustion comprenant un taux de tension élevé ou un taux d'étirement élevé pour produire des fibres de carbone de première qualité sans affecter la productivité. Elle concerne en outre des fibres de carbone présentant une taille des cristallites et un paramètre concernant la surface des fibres de carbone et déterminés par spectroscopie Raman, la taille des cristallites et le paramètre satisfaisant une relation spécifique.
