The invention relates to a novel selective modulating binding site on the potassium channel with the subunits KCNQ2 and KCNQ3 that are characterized by retigabine. This novel binding site can be used to screen and find novel substances for treating diseases that are related to a hyperexcitability or a hypoexcitability of the neuronal cells.
