In an assembly for constructing a multi-tiered retaining wall to support a backfilled embankment, at least one generally planar backfill retaining wall panel has opposed top and bottom edges, and opposed parallel side edges. Each wall panel spans between pairs of transversely spaced posts. Each post is in the form of a rigid elongate column having an upper end, a lower end and opposed side portions. An abutment means forming arecessed area extends longitudinally along each side portion of the column for receiving the side edge of the wall panel. A pin element insertable into the column forms means for retaining said wall panel in place between pairs of columns in the abutment means prior to backfilling against a rear surface of the wall panel. A seat means at the upper end of the column supports a wall panel of an adjacent higher tier. A saddle means at the lower end of the column provides for free-standing support of the column on a wall panel on an adjacent lower tier prior to backfilling. A connector extends from the column for connection to a wire mesh for anchoring the column to the backfilled embankment. The column further has set-back means for providing a wall panel of an upper tier with a predetermined set-back into the embankment in relation to a wall panel in an adjacent lower tier.
Dans un assemblage conçu pour construire un mur de soutènement étagé destiné à une levée de terre remblayée, au moins un panneau de ce mur, de forme généralement plate, est muni de bords supérieur et inférieur opposés, ainsi que de bords latéraux opposés. Chacun de ces panneaux de mur est disposé entre des paires de montants transversalement espacés l'un de l'autre. Chaque montant a la forme d'une colonne allongée rigide comportant une extrémité supérieure, une extrémité inférieure et des sections latérales opposées. Un contrefort formant une section encastrée s'étend longitudinalement le long de chaque section latérale de la colonne pour y recevoir le bord latéral du panneau du mur. Un axe de fixation, insérable dans la colonne, sert à fixer le panneau entre des paires de colonnes intégrées au contrefort avant la mise en place du remblayage contre une surface arrière du panneau du mur. L'assise d'un panneau mural appartenant à l'étage immédiatement supérieur forme l'extrémité supérieure de la colonne. Un support, au niveau de son extrémité inférieure, permet à la colonne de se soutenir sur le panneau mural de l'étage immédiatement inférieur, avant le remblayage. Un raccord entre la colonne et un treillis métallique permet d'ancrer la colonne dans la levée de terre remblayée. Cette colonne est également munie d'un dispositif de décrochement permettant de placer, en décrochement, un panneau mural d'un étage supérieur dans la levée de terre par rapport au panneau mural d'un étage immédiatement inférieur.
