A device for the topical delivery of nitric oxide gas to an infected area of skin includes a source of nitric oxide gas (8), a bathing unit (6), a flow control valve (22), and a vacuum unit (10). The bathing unit (6) is adapted to surround the area of the infected skin and form a substantially air-tight seal with the skin surface. The bathing unit (6) is also in fluidic communication with the source of nitric oxide (8). The flow control valve is in position downstream of the source of nitric oxide (8) and upstream of the bathing unit (6). The flow control valve (22) controls the amount of nitric oxide gas that is delivered to the bathing unit(6). The vacuum unit (10) is positioned downstream of the bathing unit (6) and is used to withdraw gas from the bathing unit (6). Application of nitric oxide gas to the infected area of skin reduces pathogen levels in the infected area and promotes the healing process.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de distribution topique de gaz d'oxyde nitrique à une zone de peau infectée, comportant une source de gaz d'oxyde nitrique, une unité de bain, une soupape de commande de débit et une unité d'aspiration. L'unité de bain est conçue pour entourer la zone de peau infectée et former une chape sensiblement hermétique sur la surface de la peau. Cette unité de bain est également en communication fluidique avec la source d'oxyde nitrique. La soupape de commande de débit est disposée en aval de la source d'oxyde nitrique et en amont de l'unité de bain. Cette soupape de commande de débit commande la quantité de gaz d'oxyde nitrique qui est délivrée à l'unité de bain. L'unité d'aspiration est disposée en aval de l'unité de bain et elle est utilisée pour retirer le gaz de l'unité de bain.
