This invention is an advance in coating chemistry, curing technology, related apparatus and the products made thereby. The invention encompasses a substrate bonded to a coating cured, at least in part, cationically by a light having a wavelength in a range of 100 nm to 1200 nm and intensity in a range of 0.0003 W/cm2/nm to 0.05 W/cm2/nm. Methods and systems for coating substrates and curing the coated products are encompassed. The invention encompasses apparatus and ink jet printers utilizing this curing technology. The invention also includes providing a "moving shadow" from ultraviolet light that is uniformly distributed over a print zone defined by a path of carriage motion illuminated by the light.

L'invention, qui constitue une avancée dans les domaines de la chimie des revêtements, de la technique du durcissement, des appareils associés et des produits résultants, porte sur un substrat lié à un revêtement durci, au moins partiellement, cationiquement par de la lumière d'une longueur d'onde comprise entre 100 nm et 1200 nm et d'une intensité comprise entre 0,0003 W/cm2/nm et 0,05 W/cm2/nm. L'invention porte également: sur des procédés et systèmes de revêtement de substrats et de durcissement des produits revêtus, sur des appareils et imprimantes utilisant cette technique de durcissement, et sur un procédé "d'ombre mobile" qui répartit uniformément l'UV sur une zone d'impression définie par la trajectoire éclairée suivie par le chariot.
