An international cash-on-delivery (I-COD) system for completing a transaction between a seller in a first country and a purchaser in a second country, wherein the seller has agreed to exchange packaged goods for a payment from the purchaser. The international delivery system includes a delivery service system, a payment system and an information system. The delivery service system physically handles delivery of the packaged goods, including import and export clearing, and holding of the packaged goods in escrow at an intermediate location until payment by the purchaser. The payment system handles the flow of funds including receiving payment from the purchaser, holding the payment in escrow and distribution of the payment to the seller upon delivery of the packaged goods. The information system electronically coordinates escrow aspects of both the delivery service system, and the payment system, so as to minimize the risk of the transaction to both the seller and the purchaser.
L'invention se rapporte à un système international de vente contre remboursement (I-COD), destiné à réaliser une transaction entre un vendeur se trouvant dans un premier pays et un acheteur se trouvant dans un second pays, le vendeur ayant accepté d'échanger des marchandises emballées contre une somme d'argent versée par l'acheteur. Le système de livraison international comprend un système de service livraison, un système de paiement et un système d'information. Le système de service livraison prend en charge la livraison concrète des marchandises emballées, notamment le dédouanement à l'importation et à l'exportation et la retenue des marchandises emballées en dépôt dans un endroit intermédiaire jusqu'au paiement de l'acheteur. Le système de paiement prend en charge le flux de fonds, notamment la réception du paiement émanant de l'acheteur, la retenue du paiement en dépôt, et la distribution du paiement au vendeur lors de la livraison des marchandises emballées. Le système d'information coordonne, par voie électronique, les aspects liés au dépôt du système de service de livraison et du système de paiement, afin de réduire au minimum le risque représenté par la transaction, aussi bien pour le vendeur que pour l'acheteur.
