Steering control system for a vessel including at least two propulsion units pivotally arranged in relation to the hull of the vessel for generating a driving thrust of said vessel in a desired direction, wherein each propulsion unit is moveable within a working volume defined for each propulsion unit and wherein the working volume for neighbouring propulsion units of said at least two propulsion units have a common space, said control system including at least two separate control units each controlling an associated propulsion unit, and a steering control instrument for determining the desired angular position of the propulsion units, where each of said separate control units are arranged for receiving a first input signal from said steering control instrument for determining the desired angular position of its associated propulsion unit and second input signal(s) originating from the other separate control units, associated with neighbouring propulsion units, which second input signal(s) indicating the status of the their associated propulsion units.

L~invention concerne un système de commande de direction d~un navire, comportant au moins deux modules propulseurs disposés de façon pivotante par rapport à la coque du navire en vue de générer une poussée d~entraînement du navire dans une direction souhaitée. Chaque module propulseur est mobile au sein d~un volume de travail respectif et les volumes de travail de modules propulseurs voisins parmi lesdits au moins deux modules propulseurs partagent un espace commun. Le système de commande comporte au moins deux modules de commande distincts commandant chacun un module propulseur associé. Le système de commande comporte également un instrument de commande de direction servant à déterminer la position angulaire souhaitée des modules propulseurs, chacun desdits modules de commande distincts étant agencé de façon à recevoir un premier signal d~entrée en provenance dudit instrument de commande de direction en vue de déterminer la position angulaire souhaitée de son module propulseur associé et un (des) deuxième(s) signal (signaux) d~entrée provenant des autres modules de commande distincts, associés à des modules propulseurs voisins, lequel (lesquels) deuxième(s) signal (signaux) d~entrée indiquant l~état de son (leur) module propulseur associé.
