In a device for the intravascular treatment of the vascular aneurysm, the improvement being that the device comprises a single length of a surgically acceptable material having a memory retention characteristic such that upon deformation, the device is capable of re-assuming its original shape after deformation forces have been removed; the device has a cylindrically coiled configuration, or propeller, with a generally symmetrical pitch; and being capable of being anchored to the wall of a vessel upon use in a vessel without causing pressures or deformations to the vessel.
