A method of dynamic authentication configuration that adjust authentication configuration according to traffic patterns within a system, such as a cellular communications network. In a network, mobile devices are authenticated based on various events, such as an attach, location update, originated call, etc. According to a first embodiment, one or more authentication configuration profiles is defined for a VLR/SGSN and a time schedule/table to automatically update the authentication configurations based on a time. Accordingly, the number authentications for a particular VLR is reduced as signaling traffic increases, and vice versa. In another exemplary embodiment, an HLR monitors system level traffic load to command each VLR and SGSN to change the authentication configurations. Authentication operations are preferably configured on per node and per traffic pattern basis.
La présente invention concerne un procédé pour la configuration dynamique d'authentification réalisant l'ajustement de configuration d'authentification dans un réseau selon des modèles de trafic dans un système, tel qu'un réseau de communications cellulaires. Dans un réseau, des dispositifs mobiles sont authentifiés en fonction de divers événements, tels qu'une connexion, une mise à jour de localisation, un appel de départ et analogues. Selon un premier mode de réalisation, un ou des profils de configuration d'authentification sont définis pour un enregistreur de localisation de visiteurs/noeud de support GPRS de service et une grille/un tableau horaire pour la mise à jour automatique des configurations en fonction d'un instant. Par conséquent, le nombre d'authentifications pour un enregistreur de localisation de visiteurs est réduit au fur et à mesure de l'augmentation de trafic de signalisation, et inversement. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, un enregistreur de location nominal assure la surveillance de la charge de trafic au niveau du système pour commander la modification par l'enregistreur de localisation de visiteurs et le noeud de support GPRS de service des configurations d'authentification. Des opérations d'authentification sont de préférence configurées sur une base individuelle par noeud et par modèle de trafic.
