A communication device, such as a telephone or a personal computer, controls one or more remotely controlled devices solely over a signaling path, without necessarily establishing an audio path, thus eliminating the need, for the remotely controlled device, or its controller, to include DTMF detection hardware or software or an RTP stack. The communication device can include authentication information, which the communication device uses to authenticate itself to the remotely controlled device, so a user of the communication device can remotely control the device without necessarily entering additional authentication information, such as a passcode. The remotely controlled device (or a controller that controls the device) can register with an element that detects user interactions, such as keypad button presses, with the communication device. The registration can identify one or more patterns of user input.
Selon l'invention, un dispositif de communication, tel qu'un téléphone ou un ordinateur personnel permet de commander au moins un dispositif télécommandé uniquement par le biais d'une voie de signalisation, sans nécessairement établir une voie audio, ce qui permet d'éliminer le recours au dispositif télécommandé ou à son appareil de commande, de manière à englober le logiciel ou le matériel de détection DTMF ou une pile de protocoles RTP. Ce dispositif de communication peut comprendre des informations d'authentification utilisées par ledit dispositif de communication pour s'authentifier auprès du dispositif télécommandé, ainsi, un utilisateur du dispositif de communication peut télécommander le dispositif sans nécessairement entrer des informations d'authentification supplémentaires, telles qu'un code de passe. Le dispositif télécommandé (ou un appareil de commande commandant le dispositif) peut s'enregistrer avec un élément servant à détecter des interactions d'utilisateur, telles que des pressions de bouton de clavier, avec le dispositif de communication. L'enregistrement peut identifier au moins un modèle d'entrée d'utilisateur. Si l'élément détecte le modèle spécifié de l'entrée d'utilisateur dans une interaction d'utilisateur avec le dispositif de communication, l'élément le notifie au dispositif télécommandé (ou l'appareil de commande). Facultativement, d'autres serveurs d'applications peuvent, également, s'enregistrer avec l'élément à notifier, si l'utilisateur entre le même modèle ou un modèle différent d'entrée dans une interaction d'utilisateur avec le dispositif de communication.
