The present invention is directed to methods for treating acne. The methods include exposing the subject afflicted with acne to ultraviolet light having a wavelength between about 320 to about 350 nm, such that the acne is treated e.g., inhibited, diminished, eradicated or prevented. In a preferred embodiment, the wavelength is 335 nm and is emitted by either a nitrogen laser or a third harmonic of a NdYAG laser. Treatments can be administered over a several week period, where the subject is exposed to sequential doses of ultraviolet light to obtain beneficial effects e.g., a reduction or elimination of the acne, e.g., an eradication or diminishment of the bacteria responsible for acne, e.g., Propionibacterium acnes.
La présente invention concerne des méthodes de traitement de l'acné. Les méthodes comprennent l'exposition du sujet atteint d'acné à un rayonnement ultraviolet présentant une longueur d'onde se situant entre environ 320 et environ 350 nm, de façon à traiter, à savoir inhiber, réduire, supprimer ou prévenir l'acné. Dans une forme de réalisation préférée, la longueur d'onde est de 335 nm et est émise par un laser à azote ou par une troisième harmonique de laser NdYAG. Les traitements peuvent être administrés sur une période de plusieurs semaines, pendant lesquelles le sujet est exposé à des doses séquentielles de rayons ultraviolets en vue d'obtenir des effets bénéfiques, à savoir une réduction ou l'élimination de l'acné, la suppression ou une réduction des bactéries responsables de l'acné, notamment de Propionibacterium acnes.
