A polymeric, phosphorus-containing composition derived from aryl to aryl coupling of a substituted 2,2'-dihydroxyl-1,1'-binaphthalene or a substituted 2,2'-dihydroxyl-1,1'-biphenylene and phosphonylated at the dioxyl of said structure with at least one diaryloxyphosphite [-P(-O-Ar)2], diarylphosphine [- P(Ar)2] and/or aryl,aryloxyphosphinite [-P(Ar)(-O-Ar)], where each Ar is individually phenyl, substituted phenyl, naphthyl, and substituted naphthyl, provided that the two Ar groups that are directly or indirectly bonded to the same phosphorus atom may be linked to each other by a linking unit selected from direct bond, alkylidene, secondary or tertiary amine, oxygen, sulfide, sulfone, and sulfoxide. Polymerization by aryl to aryl coupling is achieved by direct oxidative coupling of the binaphthalene or biphenylene, copolymerization with an aromatic comonomer, or copolymerization with an aldehyde. The phosphonylation may be performed prior to or after polymerization. The polymeric, phosphorus-containing compositions in combination with a Group VIII metal and, optionally a Lewis acid, are particularly useful in the catalytic hydrocyanation of unsaturated organic compounds, isomerization of unsaturated, branched nitriles to unsaturated linear nitriles, and hydroformylation of unsaturated organic compounds.
L'invention concerne un composition polymère contenant du phosphore dérivée du couplage entre groupes aryle d'un 2,2'-dihydroxyl-1,1'-binaphtalène substitué ou d'un 2,2'-dihydroxyl-1,1'-biphénylène substitué et phosphonylé sur le groupe dioxyle de cette structure au moyen d'au moins un diaryloxyphosphite [-P(-O-Ar)2], d'une diarylphosphine [-P(Ar)2] et/ou d'un aryl,aryloxyphosphinite [-P(Ar)(-O-Ar)], dans lesquels chaque Ar représente individuellement un groupe phényle, phényle substitué, naphtyle, et naphtyle substitué, sous réserve que les deux groupes Ar, qui sont directement ou indirectement liés au même atome de phosphore, puissent être liés l'un à l'autre par une unité de liaison sélectionnée parmi une liaison directe, alkylidène, amine secondaire ou tertiaire, oxygène, sulfure, sulfone, et sulfoxyde. La polymérisation par couplage entre groupes aryle est réalisée par couplage oxydatif direct du binaphtalène ou du biphénylène, copolymérisation avec un comonomère aromatique, ou copolymérisation avec un aldéhyde. La phosphonylation peut être réalisée avant ou après la polymérisation. Les compositions polymères contenant du phosphore, en combinaison avec un métal du groupe VIII et, éventuellement un acide de Lewis, sont particulièrement utiles dans l'hydrocyanation catalytique de composés organiques insaturés, dans l'isomérisation de nitriles ramifiés insaturés en nitriles linéaires saturés, et dans l'hydroformylation de composés organiques insaturés.
