ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A hydraulic braking system is disclosed for use in tractor trailers or the like. It comprises a closed hydraulic circuit which includes a pump. The pump has an impeller rotatable by and axle coaxial with a wheel over which the vehicle travels. The system includes an arrangement for selectively increasing, in sequence, the restriction of flow through the closed hydraulic circuit. As the flow is restricted, a back-pressure is induced in the pump to apply a drag to the axle.
