CA 2349996

A steam heat exchanger for a wood pulp dryer, having a first-and a second end, includes a plurality of tubes extending in a parallel, spaced-apart relationship between the first and second ends thereof. An inlet header near the first end has an inner conduit and a plurality of openings spaced-apart. An outer conduit, extending about the inner conduit, has inlet ends of the tubes connected thereto. In one embodiment a first end of each opening is further from a central axis of the inner conduit than a second end thereof. There may be a mount fixedly connected to the outer conduit. The inner conduit extends slidably into the mount. A flow restrictor is used to reduce a flow of steam through a second row of tubes compared to a flow of steam through a first row.
