The present invention relates to a process for preparing pure bis(isocyanatoalkyl)-monouretdiones corresponding to formula (I) (see fig. I) (I) wherein R represents identical or different, linear or branched alkyl groups having 4 to 9 carbon atoms, by oligomerizing at least a portion of the isocyanate groups of aliphatic diisocyanates in the presence of catalysts which accelerate the dimerization of isocyanate groups, terminating the reaction at the desired degree of oligomerization, removing unreacted excess diisocyanate by extraction or thin film distillation to obtain a distillation residue, subjecting the distillation residue to thin film distillation at a temperature of 160 to 220°C and a pressure of 0.01 to 1.0 mbar and obtaining bis(isocyanato-alkyl)monouretdiones corresponding to formula (I) as the distillate. The present invention also relates to the resulting bis(isocyanato-alkyl)monouretdiones corresponding to formula I and to their use for the production of polyisocyanateaddition products, in particular as the isocyanate components in polyurethane coatings compositions, in which the isocyanate groups may optionally be present in blocked form.

a présente invention porte sur un procédé d'obtention de bi(isocyanatoalkyl)-monouretdiones pures correspondant à la formule I (voir fig. 1) où R représente des groupements alkyle linéaires ou ramifiés, identiques ou différents, de 4 à 9 atomes de carbone, par oligomérisation d'au moins une partie des groupements isocyanate de diisocyanates aliphatiques en présence de catalyseurs qui accélèrent la dimérisation des groupements isocyanate, d'arrêt de la réaction au degré souhaité d'oligomérisation, d'enlèvement du diisocyanate qui n'a pas réagi par extraction ou distillation en couche mince, de manière à obtenir un résidu de distillation soumis à une distillation en couche mince à une température comprise entre 160 oC et 220 oC et à une pression de 0,01 à 1,0 mbar, le distillat étant constitué de bi(isocyanatoalkyl)-monouretdiones correspondant à la formule I. Cette invention traite aussi des bi(isocyanatoalkyl)-monouretdiones en question et de leur application à la production de produits d'addition de polyisocyanates, en particulier d'isocyanates comme constituants de produits d'enduction du type polyuréthanne où ces groupements peuvent être présents sous forme bloquée.
