This invention is a medical sponge (10) comprising a sterile rigid absorbent linearly shaped sponge body, one end of the body being rounded. A pluralily of parallel flex lines (14, 16) are formed in said linear body running substantially along its length with one section of the body having flex lines (18, 19) formed therein which run perpendicular to and intersect the parallel flex lines (14, 16). An end of the body is provided with angular flex lines (18, 19) formed therein which run angularly to and intersect the parallel flex lines (14, 16).

Tampon médical (10) comportant un corps absorbant spongieux rigide droit dont l'une des extrémités est arrondie. Plusieurs sillons de flexibilité (14, 16) parallèles longitudinaux sont pratiqués à sa surface tandis q'une partie de sa surface est pourvue de sillons de flexibilité transversaux qui coupent les sillons longitudinaux. En outre, l'une des extrémités du corps est pourvue de sillons de flexibilité obliques (18, 19) qui coupent également les sillons longitudinaux.
