A shielded reciprocating surgical file system (10) is used for precisely removing bone or tissue material. The system allows a user to maneuver the system and navigate into hard to access sites under a direct vision mechanism (32) included in the system. A transmission mechanism (80) converts rotary motion from a motor into reciprocating motion and provides it to the surgical file for precision bone and/or tissue removal. A pulsatile pump (290) is operatively coupled with the transmission mechanism and provides irrigating fluid to the surgical site.

Le système est manoeuvré par un usager qui peut ainsi naviguer pour atteindre des sites difficiles d'accès, en s'aidant d'un mécanisme de vision directe intégré au système. Un mécanisme de transmission convertit un mouvement rotatif commandé par un moteur en mouvement alternatif, et le transmet à la lime de chirurgien pour un retrait précis d'un os et/ou d'un tissu. Un mécanisme de pompe pulsatile est couplé de manière fonctionnelle au mécanisme de transmission pour acheminer un fluide d'irrigation vers le champ opératoire.
