A motorized golf bag cart described in this specification has a frame for holding a golf bag, a base connectable to the frame, first and second main wheels mounted on one or more main wheel axles connected to the base, a controllable drive mechanism for driving the one or more main wheel axles, and a front wheel on a front wheel axle mounted to the base. The frame and the base may be configured to hold a golf bag in a generally vertical position when the cart is on level ground. The frame and the base may be configured so that a golf bag is held with its center of gravity between the one or more main wheel axles and the front wheel axle. The front wheel may translate in a direction parallel to the front wheel axle within a range of translation.
