An overload clutch assembly for a power tool having two torque settings through which rotary drive is transmitted to a spindle (40). The overload clutch assembly is capable of being between switched between the two torque settings by at least one actuator. The clutch assembly comprises a carrier (16) rotationally mounted on a output clutch spindle (100), one being drivingly connected to the motor (2), the other being drivingly connected to the spindle (40); a first clutch plate (124) non rotationally mounted on the output clutch spindle (100), the carrier and the first clutch plate being arranged so that the first clutch plate (124) engages with the carrier (16) in such a manner that so that rotational drive can be transferred between the carrier (16) and the first clutch plate (124) when the torque is below a first predetermined level (T1) but rotational drive is cut between the carrier and the first clutch plate when the torque is above the first predetermined level (T1); at least one second clutch plate (140) mounted on the output clutch spindle (100), the second clutch plate (140) being non rotationally connected to the output clutch spindle by the actuator when clutch is in the second mode, the (16) carrier and the second clutch plate (140) being arranged so that, when the second clutch plate (140) is non rotationally connected to the clutch spindle (100), the second clutch plate (140) engages with the carrier (16) in such a manner that so that rotational drive can be transferred between the carrier (16) and the second clutch plate (140) when the torque is below a second predetermined level (T2) but rotational drive is cut between the carrier and the second clutch plate (140) when the torque is above the second predetermined level (T2); characterised in that, when the overload clutch is in the higher toque setting, the torque is transferred from the carrier (16) to the output clutch spindle (100) via the second clutch plate (140) only.
