This disclosure increases the utility of a modem. An added color LCD gives the modem the added capability of displaying whatever message a given advertiser wishes to display. These messages could contain anything from special offers on products to industry updates. The modem also incorporates a button which transmits a signal to the personal computer itself. This added function allows the user to take advantage of special offers displayed on the LCD, by merely pressing the button on the modem. Once the button is pressed, a signal is be transmitted to the computer, bringing up a window in the user's browser. From this window, the user is navigated to the details involved in the special offer.
La présente invention concerne une amélioration de l'utilité d'un modem. L'ajout d'un écran LCD couleur permet d'intégrer au modem une fonction d'affichage d'un message quelconque qu'un annonceur donné souhaite diffuser. Les messages peuvent contenir une large gamme d'informations allant d'offres spéciales sur des produits à des dernières nouvelles professionnelles. Le modem intègre également un bouton destiné à transmettre un signal à un ordinateur personnel. Cette autre fonction permet à un utilisateur de profiter d'offres spéciales affichées sur l'écran LCD, par une simple pression sur le bouton du modem. Une fois le bouton actionné, un signal est transmis à l'ordinateur, une fenêtre s'ouvrant alors dans le navigateur de l'utilisateur. Cette fenêtre guide l'utilisateur vers les détails de l'offre spéciale.
