Systems and methods that manage measurement behavior of a UE in connected mode and while in discontinuous operation. The UE is enabled to autonomously (e.g., indepen-dent of instructions from network) enter a state of measurement, and generate a measurement report for the network, when quality of serving cell falls below the threshold of S_Intrasearch param-eter. Moreover, the UE can perform inter-frequency and/or in-ter-RAT measurements autonomously by employing the "natural gaps" from its DRX pattern, when such are adequate to perform such measurements.

L'invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés qui gèrent le comportement de mesure d'un UE en mode connecté et au cours d'un fonctionnement discontinu. L'UE est activé pour entrer de façon autonome (par exemple, indépendamment des instructions provenant du réseau) dans un état de mesure et générer un rapport de mesure pour le réseau, lorsque la qualité de la cellule de service chute sous le seuil du paramètre S_Intrasearch.
