A polynucleotide having the base sequence of promoter region of gene coding for trimer G protein .alpha.-subunit Gm1. In particular, there is provided the above-mentioned polynucleotide wherein the base sequence of promoter region is, for example, as follows: (1) base sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, or (2) base sequence defined by base number 603 to 3871 of the base sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1. Further, there is provided use of the polynucleotide.
