A transgenic animal with diabetes which is more suitable as a human model than a rodent and a method for producing the same are disclosed. The method for producing a transgenic pig comprises introducing a nucleic acid containing a foreign gene which contains a region encoding a dimerizing domain of hepatocyte nuclear factor-1.alpha. but does not encode normal hepatocyte nuclear factor-1.alpha. and a promoter located upstream of the foreign gene and can express the foreign gene in a pig cell into a fertilized egg, a cloned egg or an embryo and generating an individual from the fertilized egg, the cloned egg or the embryo.
La présente invention concerne un animal transgénique diabétique, convenant mieux qu'un rongeur en tant que modèle pour les humains, ainsi qu'un procédé de production de cet animal transgénique diabétique. Le procédé de production d'un porc transgénique comprend l'introduction dans un AEuf fécondé, un AEuf cloné ou un embryon de porc d'un acide nucléique qui contient d'une part un gène étranger dont une région code pour un domaine de dimérisation du facteur nucléaire des hépatocytes 1.alpha. mais ne code pas pour le facteur nucléaire des hépatocytes 1.alpha., et d'autre part un promoteur qui est situé en amont du gène étranger et qui permet l'expression du gène étranger dans une cellule de porc. Le procédé comprend également la génération d'un individu à partir de l'AEuf fécondé, de l'AEuf cloné ou de l'embryon.
