The invention relates to the compounds of formula: Image in which R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 are selected independently from the iodine atom and the groups: Image ; Image and Image ; in which: A represents nothing or (C1-C4)alkylene, which is optionally hydroxylated; R7, R8, R9, R10, R11 and R12, which are identical or different, represent H, (C1-C10)alkyl, which is optionally hydroxylated or carrying one or more (C1-C3)alkoxy groups, which are optionally hydroxylated or, with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, R7 and R8, R9 and R10 or R11 and R12 can form independently a 5- to 8-membered saturated heterocycle, which is optionally hydroxylated, with the proviso that that at least 4 groups among R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 represent the iodine atom and that the compounds of formula I contain 10 to 24 hydroxyl groups, it being possible for the alkyl, alkoxy and alkylene to be linear or branched, which can be used as contrast agents in the diagnogtic X-ray radiography.
