A method for localizing an internal body structure during an image-guided procedure that includes obtaining a three dimensional image of a body portion containing a targeted structure and selected reference structures; determining a set of landmark point coordinates for defining the location of each of the targeted and reference structures; computing triangulation parameters relating the location of the landmark points for the targeted structure and the reference structures; and, during an image-guided procedure, using the computed triangulation parameters to plot an estimated location of the targeted structure on an intra-operative image in which the reference structures have been identified.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de localiser une structure corporelle interne lors d'une opération guidée par l'image, qui consiste notamment à obtenir une image tridimensionnelle d'une partie corporelle contenant une structure cible et des structures de référence choisies; à déterminer un ensemble de coordonnées de points de repères pour définir l'emplacement de chacune des structures cibles et de référence; à calculer des paramètres de triangulation se rapportant à l'emplacement des points de repères de la structure cible et des structures de référence; et, lors de l'opération guidée par l'image, à utiliser les paramètres de triangulation calculés pour marquer un emplacement estimé de la structure cible sur une image intra-opératoire où les structures de référence ont été identifiées.
