The invention relates to a method of producing an organic material, which multiplies through a process of germination, wherein the method is aimed at increasing growth of the material and reducing the period necessary for harvesting the same. In particular, the method, which includes a two-stage fermentation process, comprises the steps of preparing a starter nutrient medium; adding a starter culture of an organic bacterial fungus to the nutrient medium; permitting the mixture of nutrient medium and fungus culture to undergo a first stage fermentation process; transferring the mixture to a fermentation container; and allowing the mixture to undergo a second stage fermentation process until the organic material has germinated fully. The invention also extends to the use of this material in a number of applications, and in particular in fire extinguishing, fire prevention applications and as a general thermal barrier.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'une matière organique, qui se multiplie par un procédé de germination. Ledit procédé est destiné à augmenter la croissance de la matière et à diminuer la période nécessaire pour la récolter. En particulier, ledit procédé, qui comprend un procédé de fermentation en deux étapes, consiste à préparer un milieu nutritif de départ ; à ajouter une culture de départ d'un champignon bactérien organique au milieu nutritif; à permettre au mélange constitué du milieu nutritif et de la culture fongique de subir une première étape de fermentation; à transférer le mélange vers un contenant de fermentation; et à permettre au mélange de subir une deuxième étape de fermentation jusqu'à ce la matière organique ait complètement germé. L'invention concerne également l'utilisation de ladite matière dans un certain nombre d'applications, et en particulier dans des applications d'extinction incendie, de prévention contre les incendies et en tant que barrière thermique générale.
