Aqueous compositions for removing limescale on hard surfaces are disclosed which comprise maleic acid, a surfactant or mixtures thereof and an acid selected from the group of citric acid, succinic acid or mixtures thereof, whereby the shine to the surface treated is improved. Said compositions are suitable to descale my hard-surfaces, including metal surfaces, as well as appliances.
