A hinged pair of vises is disclosed for use in the manufacture of non-perpendicular picture frames. A non-perpendicular picture frame provides three or more frame elements wherein all adjacent frame elements do not meat at right angles. The hinged vise pair provides two vise elements related by an adjustable hinge. A first vise is fixed to a base; a second vise is adjustable to an angle of up to 180 degrees with respect to the first vise in use, a picture frame having sides cut to create corners of greater than or less than 90 degrees may be constructed by using the invention. A first picture frame element is carried by a first vise, while a second vise is pivoted with respect to the first vise until the angular relationship between the vises is appropriate for the angular relationship intended between the frame elements. The pivot between the vises may be fixed, and the frame elements joined by known means. A plurality of the hinged vise pairs may be used simultaneously, with one vise pair associated eachcorner of a non-perpendicular picture frame under construction. The hinged vise pair of the invention is also adapted to the construction of conventional picture frames by adjusting the vise pair until they are perpendicular.
