The breast pump comprises a milk reservoir and a flanged closure member for connection with the reservoir; the closure member comprises a suction bell and a suction pump suitable for single-handed manual operation and includes (a) a cylinder integrally connected with the closure member; (b) a piston means for reciprocating motion within the cylinder between a first or lower position and a second or upper position, and (c) a spring-loaded actuator for interaction with the piston means. According to the invention, the actuator is a yoke structure formed of an elongated flat spring member that tends to revert into a first or rest position and is reversibly deformable into a second or substantially bent position; the spring member has two ends and is connected with the piston near the spring's middle; the yoke further comprises a pair of elongated lateral legs which are functionally rigid, i.e. substantially less elastic than the flat spring; each lateral leg has a lower end and an upper end; each lower end is connected with an open ended ring slideably mounted on the closure member; the upper ends of the legs are connected with the ends of the spring member; the yoke is dimensioned for single-handed manual compression of the lateral legs which, in turn, will cause bending of the flat spring member and so displace the piston upwards within the cylinder and cause suction within the suction bell; when the lateral legs are released the spring reverts into its rest position and a subsequent suction cycle can be initiated by again pressing the lateral legs against each other.

Cette invention concerne un tire-lait raccordé à un réservoir au moyen d'un adaptateur à bride comportant une ventouse, une pompe d'aspiration adaptée à la manoeuvre d'une seule main ainsi que (a) un cylindre incorporé, (b) un piston logé dans ledit cylindre et mobile selon un mouvement alternatif entre une première position basse et une seconde position haute et (c) un actionneur à ressort dudit piston. Selon l'invention, l'actionneur a la forme d'un étrier composé d'une lame ressort allongée ayant une première position naturelle de repos et déformable vers une seconde position sensiblement pliée. La lame ressort est raccordée au piston à peu près en son centre et aux deux branches essentiellement rigides (c.-à-d. sensiblement moins élastiques que le ressort) qui complètent l'étrier, par ses deux extrémités. Chacune de ces branches est raccordée par son extrémité inférieure à un anneau glissé sur l'adaptateur. L'étrier est dimensionné pour permettre la compression de ses deux branches l'une vers l'autre d'une seule main, ce qui a pour effet de plier la lame ressort et, partant, de déplacer le piston vers le haut à l'intérieur de son cylindre pour créer une dépression dans la ventouse. Lorsque la pression sur les deux branches de l'étrier est relâchée, le ressort revient naturellement à sa position de repos et le piston à son point mort bas où une nouvelle course d'aspiration peut être amorcée en comprimant à nouveau les deux branches de l'étrier l'une vers l'autre.
