An apparatus is disclosed to replace the traditional shower gray water discharge trap with a device combining the trap plumbing function with a heat recovery capability such that a major portion of the recoverable heat content of the discharged gray water is recovered and transferred to the cold water feed to the shower thereby reducing the hot water intake, such apparatus employing the cyclic transfer of latent heat of evaporation (enthalpy) of a sealed working fluid in a compact multi-celt molded assembly fitting in the space normally occupied by the shower trap and requiring no external power.
