An apparatus and method for treating water with ozone. An outer conduit forms a continuous, vertical loop. A pump is connected to the bottom of the loop and pumps water about the loop from the bottom towards a first side. An opening admits ozone into the outer conduit. There is an outlet for gases near the top of the loop. An inner conduit within the outer conduit is spaced - apart therefrom to form a passageway for water therebetween. The inner conduit has an inlet between the opening for ozone and the outlet for gases and an outlet within the outer conduit on the second side of the loop. Some of the water is diverted into the inlet of the inner conduit. A flow of water at reduced linear velocity is permitted through the passageway into the outer conduit. Ozone released at the outlet of the inner conduit flows upwardly through the outer conduit in counterflow to the water therein to increase the amount of ozone dissolved in the water.
Appareil et méthode de traitement de l'eau par l'ozone. Un conduit extérieur forme une boucle verticale continue. Une pompe est reliée au fond de la boucle et pompe l'eau près de la boucle depuis le fond vers le premier côté. Une ouverture laisse entrer l'ozone dans le conduit extérieur. Une sortie est prévue pour les gaz près du haut de la boucle. Un conduit intérieur dans le conduit extérieur est espacé de ce dernier afin de former entre eux un passage pour l'eau. Le conduit intérieur possède une entrée entre l'ouverture pour l'ozone et la sortie pour les gaz, ainsi qu'une sortie dans le conduit extérieur sur le second côté de la boucle. Une partie de l'eau est déviée vers l'entrée du conduit intérieur. Un débit d'eau à vitesse linéaire réduite est permis dans le passage vers le conduit extérieur. L'ozone libéré à la sortie du conduit intérieur s'écoule vers le haut par le conduit extérieur, à contre-courant de l'eau, afin d'augmenter la quantité d'ozone dissous dans l'eau.
