ABSTRACT A receptor (ILA) isolated and substantially purified from lymphoid cells activated with proinflammatory agents is disclosed along with its nucleotide and amino acid sequences. Also disclosed are diagnostic and therapeutic methods of utilizing the ILA nucleotide and polypeptide sequences. ILA is also induced in primary chondrocytes by 11-1.beta. and cytokines that cause cartilage degradation.
